Will pregnant medicaid reimburse for an office visit before enrolled in the program?

So I recently found out I was pregnant, via a home test. I am currently going to school full time and live off of student loans. The father works but is also going to school. I talked to a lady at the local medicaid office about enrolling in the program since I do not have maternity insurance. She mentioned that I must first see a doctor and write down the due date. I am not sure how much the first visit will be since they perform a lot of tests, but I am planning on spending several hundred dollars. If I do qualify for medicare will they reimburse that money I spent on the initial doctor%26#039;s visit? I am not asking this because I want money, I am merely asking so that I can plan my budget accordingly. Thanks.

Most of the time, they will retro bill for that service. I don%26#039;t think that they reimburse but you can submit your bill to them to be paid.

Go to Planned Parenthood and get a pregnancy test, usually $15 and bring that in with your EDD on it. That is enough to get started on Medicaid.

It%26#039;s my understanding that they will reimburse any doctors bills for the month in which you are approved. But that may vary from state to state, so its probably best to ask your case worker.

There should be places where you live that will do a pregnancy test for free and they will give you a due date once they do this you can take that paper to the Medicaid office and get your medicaid started and in the mean time you should start finding a doctor that accepts medicaid and then all of your medical attention will be paid. Sometimes they will pay a back bill but I don%26#039;t think they will reimburse you so you should check into some places like planned parenthood, lifeline and places that will do the test for free and they will give you a due date for the medicaid.

There are free clinics with registered nurses that will give you a test and a due date. They willl give you the form you need to turn into the medicaid office. In Lubbock there was one called the Stork%26#039;s Nest. You can ask the people at the Department of Human Services and they should be able to tell you where to go. And as someone else already mentioned, you could also go to Planned Parenthood for pretty cheap.

Usually if you just tell the Dr. or Midwife that you are applying for medicaid, they will not make you pay. Medicaid will pay them for the visit once you are approved...... And usually just for a confirmation, you can go to health and human services. They usually do it for free..... And make sure if you go to your own doctor, they know that you need the confirmation, because it has to be signed and stuff.....

Medicaid covers for 3 months prior to when your card says effective date just ask your caseworker what exactly you need to know to be able to have them pay the bill.

It probably depends on the state, but I have received Medicaid assistance in two states since I had to move during pregnancy, and both of them will backdate coverage to pay for medical care up to 90 days prior. You shouldn%26#039;t have to pay for the initial visits out of your own pocket if you go ahead and apply for Medicaid coverage-They will usually put you into what they call %26quot;presumptive eligibility%26quot; coverage until your application is actually approved and you receive a medical benefits card. Just go ahead and apply for the coverage, then schedule your ob/gyn appointment. However, if they are wanting something in writing that states you are pregnant to file with your medicaid application, go to a local health clinic. All they need to file with your application is a statement that says you have been given a pregnancy test that was positive, and your EDD, which they will base off your last period for now. It shouldn%26#039;t cost you much just to get this, then save the big appointment for after you have applied for coverage.

I had to go through this not even like 5 days ago. I went and made the application and in the interview they asked me for that too. so they gave me this paper for the doc to fill out. So i went to this clinic where they made free pregnancy tests. And whatever i came out positive. So then i asked the girl to fill out the paper for me and to put the due date. So she put the due date since the last time i had my period. If i were to stay with that doctor they would%26#039;ve filled it out free but since i didnt want that doctor she just charged me $25. so i took the paper back and im now waiting for my medicaid to get here. o and go ahead and look for your doctor and make an appointment now, cuz i made mine last friday and im not getting it til the 30th. Some doctors are very busy so it may take a while for them to attend you.
