In a moment of weakness, I cosigned on a loan with a friend. She has since moved away and ran into some financial hurdles, I guess. Long story short, she supposedly has a job now, and an apartment, but it%26#039;s been 8 months now and I have been paying off the loan when it wasn%26#039;t even mine to begin with(it was for here school). Should I get a bank loan and cover it all myself and leave her out of it or is there another way I can get her to pay%26gt;? I was thinking of driving out to Wisconsin myself and showing up on her dorrstep, demanding the money!! Help me before I do that!!!

Ahhh...another person learns the pitfalls of co-signing the hard way. Sorry to hear that your %26#039;friend%26#039; ditched the payments on you.

Sad to say, you are left to pressure this person on your own. The lender is pleased that they have YOU on the hook, since you are now paying the bill.

You have shown her that if she ignores it, it%26#039;ll go away. Send her a letter - and keep a copy - saying, %26quot;I love you but I cannot afford this and it%26#039;s your loan%26quot; when she continues not paying send her another letter saying, %26quot;It%26#039;ll break my heart but if you don%26#039;t start paying we%26#039;ll have to go the small claims route%26quot; and then when she doesn%26#039;t, go that route.

Yes, I would consider driving to Wisconsin. If she%26#039;s living in a large apartment (as opposed to a studio), has cable, a car, etc, she has the resources to pay this loan.

Tell her that paying her bill is her responsibility. Not yours. If you can%26#039;t get her to, then there is no choice but to go to her family and tell them. I%26#039;ve seen people take other people to court on account that they don%26#039;t pay their bills and it got real nasty. Please don%26#039;t let that happen. Friends mean the world to everyone.
